Cathal has worked across a range of private, public and voluntary organisations. He has built a reputation for bringing a fresh and dynamic approach. Cathal is a former board member of the National Youth Council of Ireland. He has worked extensively with many youth and voluntary organisations. He was mainly helping them to develop new services and enhance delivery to existing members.


Cathal was selected to represent Ireland at the Asia-Europe Young Leaders Symposium in Beijing in 2005. For almost four years Cathal worked with the Construction Industry Federation. This is the representative body for construction, general contracting, subcontracting and civil engineering contractors in Ireland. Cathal managed the public affairs and communications operations for the industry body. This was in a period of immense growth and subsequent steep decline in the industry.

Heavily involved for many years in politics, Cathal is a former Leas Cathaoirleach of Ógra Fianna Fáil.

Upon graduation, Cathal worked in the Houses of the Oireachtas for three years with (former) Senator Geraldine Feeney, the late Senator Kieran Phelan and current Senator Diarmuid Wilson.


Cathal was asked by Independent Seán Gallagher to manage his campaign for the 2011 Presidential Election. Cathal managed the entire nomination process, starting in May 2011 and concluding at the end of September 2011. In tandem, he built a key team of committed personnel and volunteers. This was harnessed during the election campaign. Cathal grew the campaign to allow him to oversee specific teams for campaign management, volunteer coordination, research and media.

Cathal has advised in a private capacity a diverse range of current & former elected representatives on campaign strategy and communications. Geographically he works across Ireland, north & south, throughout the United Kingdom and across Europe.

Cathal is a native of Cavan. He holds a BA (History & Politics) and MA (History of International Relations) from University College Dublin. In addition Cathal studied at the Asia-European Foundation University.
